Enshrining Reproductive Rights and Right to Privacy

The 2022 Supreme Court ruling is simply unacceptable. I believe all women should have the right to make their own reproductive health decisions with their own doctors.

I will vote to codify Roe v. Wade in the U.S. House each and every time is comes up for a vote.  By codifying Roe, it would enshrine women the right to safe abortion in federal law, making it much more difficult for states to circumvent abortion rights law on constitutionality grounds.

Furthermore, I am against the Hyde Amendment and if not already introduced, I will introduce legislation to delete the Amendment.  Poor, working-class, BIPOC, and other marginalized women deserve the same right to abortion as wealthy women.

Americans have and should have the right to privacy.  What we do with our bodies—healthcare choices, who we have sex with (consenting adults), and who we don’t have sex with—is a fundamental right that I will fight to strengthen.  The federal government does not belong in our medical exam rooms and bedrooms.
